A small remembrance
of Nohad Toulan,
In the year
of 1989, while I had been a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley, the ACSP annual
meeting was held in Portland, hosted by Prof. Toulan. With my family, I drove
up from San Francisco Bay area to attend it. At the conference hotel there had
been a simultaneous – smaller though – meeting, of a group of Veterans that
have joined a bombardment squad during the 2nd WW. Participants of
both meetings were sharing the hallway. Toulan – who was due to open the ACSP meeting
-- put his style with a humoresque introductory warning: “The meeting of the
bombardiers is in the next door saloon…”
